Political graffiti in the Carlow countryside
April 26th, 2008
Since the day Bertie Ahern announced he was vacating his position as Taoiseach, opposition supporters in the Carlow area have taken to mindless vandalism. I have seen some of this around Carlow Town, but it is most evident on the Carlow - Kilkenny road.
Graffiti/vandalism of this type would normally be associated with rebelling teens. However the topic and wording would point to an older, more politically aware culprit. So do we have middle aged vandals rampaging across Carlow?!
Pixmania picture books
February 11th, 2008
We had loads of pictures from New York and as with the majority of digital pictures they will never be printed. I was pricing regular photo printing with Pixmania when I noticed they have a variety of printing options.
I went for the Classic hard back book. Crammed in 48 pictures. Their software was excellent, you have total control over the placement of the pictures. Best of all, was the price. Delivered to the door for 32 euro.
The quality of the pictures were very good and the book itself is simple but striking.
Have a looksie here.

The end of the night, the national anthem.
August 27th, 2007
For the second time in two weeks, I was at a venue where the national anthem was played at the end of the night. Once in Carlow and now in Westport. I presumed this tradition had ended years ago.
The Carlow incident was at a 21st, however the Westport incident was at a busy nightclub. Im beginning to wonder is this some bizarre method of crowd control? People dont get a chance to chant “one more choooooon” as they are too busy standing to attention.

Had not heard these before until this evening. A wee bit demented is the best way to describe it! Have a listen here.
The Tomski
January 13th, 2007
Tom ‘The Tomski’ Mahon passed away December 21st 06. I was fortunate to have spent some time in secondary school but also in college with Tom. Easily the funniest person I have ever met, he managed to brighten even the most boring of classes.Tom spent 18 months battling cancer. He was diagnosed after he just completed his degree in Computer Systems Management. The last contact I had with Tom, I had just come across his picture in the game FM2006. He had won a competition to have his picture included as that of a player in the football game. See attached.
I have also attached a clipping from the Carlow Nationalist this week and the Carlow People.
R.I.P. Tom
